Using Anytrans for IOS to transfer Whatsapp messages from Android to IOS….
…for me doesn’t work. After taking about 20mins of restoring to the iphone the iphone disconnects after restore. After reconnecting Anytrans completes saying that 18GB of data has been transferred but when I check there are no Whatsapp messages from my Android phone (and yes, I followed the instructions, downloading a modified Whatsapp from the anytrans website and doing a backup that wasn’t a google backup). I think what Anytrans for IOS is trying to do is insert the Whatsapp data from an Android backup into the equivalent of a itunes back up (which is why its 18GB rather than the 250MB of my WhatsApp data and why it takes so long). (I saw a method of doing this elsewhere on the web).
What is not clear from the instructions is whether you should be logged into Whatsapp in your android phone or your iphone (since you can’t be logged into both). I’ve tried it each way and not got anywhere. Not impressed with this software.
Finally all the advertorial for anytrans (ie related marketing sites including their own one) seem to think its a good idea to tell you that there are three ways of transferring Whatsapp from Android to IOS; including one that involves just simply backing up using Whatsapp on Android and then restoring using Whatsapp on IOS. This doesn’t work, if it did there would be no reason to use this program (if it worked) so I’m not sure why they do this? [The other method to email doesn’t restore a chat in Whatsapp either].
